Akil (Ahilan) Balachandran is the proud
founder and CEO of BlueMind, with a mission
to improve the financial well-being of
people around the globe by simplifying and
transforming the way financial advice is
delivered through technology and human
cognitive expertise. With 17 years in the
financial industry, he has navigated various
roles at Sun Life, from advisor and manager
to compliance officer and leader of digital
transformation. He also had the privilege of
building a boutique digital MGA.
Akil's journey began with aspirations of
becoming a medical doctor, but life had
other plans. After facing numerous
challenges and immigrating to Canada, he
pursued an international business program
followed by business management at TMU. Akil
then transitioned into a role as a financial
advisor / Certified Financial Planner,
building a successful referral-based
financial planning practice and advancing to
management and leadership roles in the
global financial services industry.
Recognizing a significant challenge in the
industry - meeting stringent regulatory
compliance requirements - Akil developed
BlueMind, a comprehensive platform designed
to streamline compliance and enhance
productivity for financial advisors. During
COVID-19, he saw the potential of this
technology to address the evolving needs of
MGAs and advisors. BlueMind offers an
automation tool that integrates compliance
into everyday operations, helping advisors
conduct their business more effectively
while staying compliant with regulations.
This solution also enhances client service
and retention, ensuring that MGAs receive
the necessary compliance data to meet
regulatory demands.
Throughout his career, Akil has been
dedicated to leading digital
transformations, building companies,
transforming advisors' and clients' lives,
and coaching thousands of advisors. He is
passionate about challenging the status quo
of costly, outdated, and inefficient
financial technology by developing
comprehensive, user-friendly solutions that
foster transparency and trust.
